Address validation news: Email marketing 'top for online communication'
Dec 24 2009, 09:19 AM
Email marketing is still the first choice when it comes to the marketing industry's preferred method of online communication, it has been noted.
Citing research undertaken by the consultancy organisation Amas among 171 Marketing Institute of Ireland members, the Post noted that this method was favoured over newer technologies such as social media portals.
Search engine optimisation ranked in second place, while social networking and blogging came in third.
The Post noted: "Overall, the survey suggests that, while marketing managers are expanding their online portfolios, they are not necessarily scaling back on tried and tested options, such as email."
Companies' propensity to still make liberal use of traditional methods of communication may well underscore the need for effective address validation tools and techniques.
Earlier this week, sector commentator Dr David Waddington told web resource IT Director that data quality is one of several "key" components of information, along with governance and master data management.
