Audit Commission 'unveils data quality improvement plans'
Nov 6 2009, 10:30 AM
The Audit Commission has unveiled a new discussion paper aimed at helping public bodies improve the quality of their data, it has been reported.
According to PublicNet, the document, which is entitled Nothing But the Truth, suggests ways in which social workers, child safety professionals, doctors and police may be able to assess the reliability of the information they hold.
Audit Commission Chief Executive Steve Bundred said recent failures by some social services to protect vulnerable children "have raised questions about the quality of information used by professionals and how well they share it".
The aim of the document is to encourage debate about what can be done to improve data quality, the news provider noted.
An independent watchdog, the Audit Commission aims to improve efficiency in public services and ensure value for money for taxpayers.
The organisation works across areas such as health, housing, community safety and fire and rescue.
