Businesses offered change management advice

Apr 28 2010, 11:55 AM

There are six things that people need to remember when implementing change management in the workplace, according to one expert.

Melissa Dutmers posted an excerpt from her book Lead Change by Design: A Toolkit to Make Ideas Happen on the SmartData Collective website this week, which advocates telling people what, why and how change is taking place several times as four of the key concepts managers should bear in mind.

It also recommends having influential people onboard for the change - at senior and ground level - and keeping in mind that personnel and structure are the two things needed to make it work.

The advice is relevant to implementing data quality strategies in light of the comments made to Data Quality Pro by Mary Gregory last year.

She suggested that change management is vital to the success of data management projects, particularly with regards "the engagement and motivation of people".
