Businesses can improve the quality of their data by setting achievable goals, it has been claimed.
According to Data Quality Pro, it is important that companies ensure their goals are attainable.
"Go for something simple like completeness. For every field that should have a value, there is an entry that appears valid. You don't even need a tool for this, a simple query or even a visual check of the most recent records will suffice," the website noted.
Furthermore, managers are advised to communicate with their teams and make them aware of the impact trivial mistakes can have further down the line.
The news provider added that companies can benefit from asking their employees to come up with ideas of how data quality can be improved.
Writing for Forbes earlier this month, Dan Wood, Chief Technology Officer and Editor of Evolved Technologist, said companies lose billions of pounds every year by using poor data sources.
