Apr 19 2010, 11:46 AM
Data management is fast becoming a concern for everyone within their organisation and gone are the days when data rested solely in the arms of the IT department.
Writing for Smart Data Collective, Jim Harris claims that data is now a "strategic corporate asset" with individuals wanting to access specific business data.
In an article for Network World, Thomas Wailgum analysed information gathered by Forbes Insight's latest report. The report showed that 85 per cent of respondents said their organisation saw data as a "strategic asset".
However the move towards more data access think in terms that people can follow organisations on Twitter for the latest developments can impinge data quality. Data is becoming an important part of businesses' public face but yet whose responsibility it is to manage that data is far from clear.
Last week organisations at the Data Quality and Integration strategy briefing in London were reminded of the importance of good data management by Simon Walker, Director of Product Management at Stibo Systems.
