Data quality 'a priority for IT managers'
Sep 25 2009, 10:10 AM
IT and data centre managers place a greater focus on internal data quality projects, such as consolidation and virtualisation, than in other areas, it has been suggested.
Rakesh Kumar, Research Vice-President at Gartner, made his comments as the organisation published the results of an interactive poll which showed that respondents think of green IT and vendor procurement to be a low-priority activity for the next year and a half.
A total of seven % of those surveyed said that pushing vendors to create more environmentally-friendly solutions and green procurement are their top priorities.
Mr Kumar said: "Data centre and IT managers are far more interested in internal projects like consolidation, rationalisation and virtualisation."
In other news from Gartner, the organisation published figures earlier this month which showed that the global security software market will be worth a total of $14.5 billion (£9.05 billion) in 2009, an increase of eight % from last year.
