Aug 19 2010, 09:46 AM
Data quality is an important issue to address when software-as-a-service solutions are being implemented at a business.
According to an article on the Processor website, software-as-a-service offerings are highly sought after by companies thanks to their ability to quickly deploy business applications.
But data integration work needs to be conducted carefully for software-as-a-service work to be a success, it was suggested.
Among the potential problems are data migration, replication and synchronisation, as well as data quality.
Darren Cunningham, Vice President of Cloud Integration at Informatica, said data quality should mean that information in each domain is not only be consistent, but also standardised in format and structure.
Earlier this week, SmartData Collective blogger Jim Harris noted that data quality should be treated as an important corporate asset.
He stated this is because it can serve "as a solid foundation for business success" and can therefore be a "very powerful" tool for an organisation to have.
