Data quality 'improves efficiency in retail sector'
Feb 23 2010, 11:17 AM
Focusing on data quality is vital for retailers and should not be overlooked, it has been stated.
Writing for Internet Retailing, Michael Matzer said it enables businesses to improve efficiency and boost customer satisfaction.
He noted that most people are aware of data quality issues because they have invariably been addressed incorrectly or given the wrong title in the past.
"If I were a customer I wouldnt be too happy about this mistake. And I would doubt that the retailer would be efficient enough to provide the articles I want in the way that I need them," he commented.
Companies should integrate data quality testing into all of their processes, Mr Matzer added.
Writing for Information Management earlier this month, Joel Curry noted that without having a data strategy in place, organisations are likely to struggle with their campaigns and fulfilling the expectations of their clients and customers.
