Data quality 'should be ensured as information is captured'
Aug 20 2010, 09:38 AM
Ensuring address data quality should occur as information is being collected, it has been asserted.
According to a recent paper by Forrester, it is far harder to validate data after it has been captured.
But it was added that data cleansing work can still be valuable when high volumes of address data needs to be processed, reports TMC Net.
"Hundreds of thousands of addresses can easily be standardised, cleansed, validated and enriched in a few short hours using a centralised data quality or address cleansing software or service solution," the study explained.
It was pointed out that ensuring address data quality can be a problem if a customer is not willing to hand over their personal details.
Earlier this month, SmartData Collective blogger Jim Harris stated that data quality should be treated as a corporate asset because of its highly valuable nature to organisations and ability to serve as a foundation to business success.
