Data quality software required to manage new technology era

Dec 30 2011, 17:27 PM

Information is as important as ever, but with a new era of diversifying technology in use, by both consumer and colleague, it is becoming more arduous to maintain and use data efficiently. In this light, Dow Jones have collected ethnographic research to produce a list of the most pressing challenges to technology and business.

Search engines have become one of the most widely talked about internet tools of the business world. But they have progressed and modernised rapidly since their conception. They no longer provide a single event but a "multidimensional process to answer strategic business questions". Big data is driving the economy in the 21st century, and data management is crucial to harnessing the evolution. According to Greg Merkle, vice president of product strategy, information architecture and design at Dow Jones: "Smart companies in 2012 will uncover ways to answer business questions from information and search patterns contained within structured and unstructured data."

Using the 'like' button on Facebook will evolve to take a similar role within the business. Finding information that is relevant to the company and yourself can be ranked by evolving data quality systems. This user-friendly experience will permeate many levels of the company, as people begin to realise the potential of contemporary data management. This impetus may be spawned within the company itself, by the youthful 'millenium' child, who wants cheaper, better, faster ways of getting the job done.ADNFCR-1172-ID-801252743-ADNFCR
