Irish charities 'must invest in marketing'
Feb 26 2010, 13:31 PM
Irish charities must ensure they invest adequately in marketing in order to get their message across to consumers, it has been suggested.
Speaking at a Dublin forum earlier this week, Kieran Loughran, co-founder of Broadmatch Ireland, said one of the biggest weaknesses that charities and NGOs have is their ability to market themselves.
"There are 25,000 community groups and 7,500 groups out there
if people don't know about you, you're not going to grow and get funding," he commented.
According to the Irish Times, Mr Loughran is keen to encourage more marketers to sign up his panel that offers expert assistance to NGOs and charitable organisations.
He noted that many of these are in danger of going out of business due to a lack of public awareness.
Meanwhile, research carried out recently by the Internet Advertising Bureau revealed that brands can increase their exposure by combining marketing channels.
