Irish data management firm attracting bids

Mar 14 2008, 17:39 PM

Horizon Technology has been approached by an unnamed company for a takeover bid that would put its value at €1.18 a share.

Among the firms rumoured to be interested in acquiring the Dublin-based firm is Computacenter and Specialist Computer Holdings, according to the Financial Times.

Should a bid at that level be successful, it would value Horizon at €97 million. A statement from the board in relation to the offer urged shareholders to be aware it is early days.

It said that "the approach is preliminary in nature and is subject to a number of conditions", adding that "no assurances can be given that a formal offer will be forthcoming or that any transaction will occur".

The company's founder and chairman Samir Naji stands to benefit most from the sale as he holds a 38 per cent stake, the Irish Independent reports.
