Irish data strategy to improve best practice in online connectivity falters
Jun 25 2009, 10:43 AM
A report by the Economist Intelligence Unit has found that Ireland has lost momentum on establishing a data strategy to improve best practice in online connectivity.
Despite claiming 18th position in the e-readiness rankings, its score actually slipped to 7.84 points from 8.03, reports SiliconRepublic.com.
Peter Korsten, Global Leader of the IBM Institute for Business Value, which sponsored the report, commented: "Those countries that invest aggressively, competitively and wisely in ramping up connectedness and usage of the internet, and that create and drive innovative content and services, will reap the benefits for many, many years to come."
He added that in the future it will become apparent that this year is a crucial turning point in the establishment of connectivity best practice.
The Economist Intelligence Unit was established in 1946 to coincide with The Economist's appointment of a director of intelligence.
