New Dublin data centre 'to create 90 jobs'
Dec 18 2009, 10:19 AM
A new 12 million (£11 million) data centre is set to open in the Irish capital, it has been revealed.
European firm Interxion has announced that 90 new jobs will be created during the construction phase of the project.
It is expected that the first part of the facility will be completed by early 2010 and will double the organisation's size in Dublin.
Interxion has grown significantly in Ireland in recent years due to the expansion of the country's telecoms industry.
"The new data centre is required to meet growing customer demand for energy-efficient yet high-power-density data centre infrastructure and outsourced managed services," the company said in a statement.
Established in 1998 in the Netherlands, Interxion currently manages 28 sites across 11 countries.
It offers data centre, co-location and managed services solutions to approximately 1,100 customers.
In related news, Interxion announced last month that it is to increase its capacity in Frankfurt by opening a sixth facility there.
