Online data strategy needed by Irish businesses to meet consumer demand
Mar 25 2009, 12:59 PM
A survey by Visa has given businesses in Ireland more reason to work to ensure their online data capture and data quality technology is efficient and accurate.
Published on Monday (March 23rd), the study has revealed that Irish consumers are increasingly looking to the internet to carry out their shopping.
In 2008 shoppers in Ireland spent an average 1,700 (£1,558) buying things online, with 93% stating that their decision to do so was driven by a desire to make life easier for themselves and avoid lengthy queues.
Jonathan Valentine, senior vice-president of marketing at Visa Europe, commented: "Despite the fact that many consumers are planning to curtail spending on consumer goods in general, we are looking at the opposite trend with online purchasing increasing due to the benefits associated with e-commerce."
Address verification software enables businesses to check addresses as they are inputted online by consumers.
This ensures addresses are accurate so the risk of products being delivered to the wrong address or undeliverable is minimised.
