Poor data quality 'can lead to many problems'
Mar 25 2010, 11:28 AM
Poor data quality can cause many problems for an organisation and is an area that needs to be dealt with, it has been claimed.
According to databasejournal.com, in order to make improvements, businesses must understand why their applications create bad data in the first place.
"Identifying that your organisation has data that is inconsistent and inaccurate is the first step in improving the quality of your data, but additional steps are needed to clean up that bad data," the website stated.
Once a data cleanup process has been implemented, businesses must reassess their information again and repeat if necessary, it added.
Meanwhile, it was revealed this week that web-based community resource Data Quality Pro has launched a new magazine.
Available online, the Data Quality Herald features articles covering everything from career development to new technology, as well as expert commentary and insights.
