QAS Irish Data and alias information
Postal data in the Republic of Ireland can be a challenge to capture accurately, as residents often have a different understanding of their address to their official postal address from An Post.
To address this issue, QAS Irish Data contains a number of features.
Use of locality aliases
- Using our relationship with Experian Ireland, a significant number of locality aliases have been added to the product.
- These aliases are the bordering localities to the locality (e.g. the neighbouring suburbs, villages, townlands), but they may also be local names for the area.
- These aliases can be searched in the same way as true localities, and the true address can be returned through the product.
- Therefore, finding the address that the end user is looking for is easy.
Resident Preferred Layout
- Addresses can be perceived as incorrect even though they are the official An Post addresses. To cover this, Resident Preferred Layout is added to the Irish data.
- When using this, a number of address elements are aligned to what the general population would consider the address to be, rather than the official An Post address.
Returning of locality aliases
- QAS Irish Data will allow these aliases to be returned instead of the true locality name and so align the address stored within your database with the address that the customer considers to be correct.
